Russian ministry still mulls excise duties on carbonated beverages

MOSCOW, May 16 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Finance Ministry is still considering introducing excise duties on beverages with a high content of sugar and electronic cigarettes, Deputy Minister Ilya Trunin told reporters Monday.

“Yes, we study. I believe that sugar containing beverages, as well as electronic cigarettes, are such a thing, for which the world now uses various ways of taxation,” he said.

He was not able to say if the government made a final decision not to impose excise duties on palm oil.
